Contemporary Uzbek Music for Clarinet and Piano
About the Album
Contemporary Uzbek Music for Clarinet and Piano the first album devoted entirely to contemporary Uzbek works for clarinet and piano. Performed by clarinetist Sayyod Mirzomurodov with pianist Mariya Akhadjanova, the album brings together a distinctive collection of works by Uzbek composers, including pieces written for and dedicated to Mirzomurodov.
The recording presents the clarinet as a voice for contemporary Uzbek musical expression, connecting modern classical performance with cultural memory, national identity, and the expressive character of Uzbek music. Through lyrical melodies, energetic rhythms, and the dialogue between clarinet and piano, the album introduces listeners to a unique body of repertoire that is rarely heard internationally.
Featuring several world premiere recordings, this project contributes to the visibility of Uzbek contemporary music and expands the clarinet repertoire with new voices and traditions. It reflects Mirzomurodov’s commitment to promoting the music of Uzbek composers and building bridges between Central Asian musical heritage and Western classical performance.
